What is a good organic pest control?

I have these tiny black grasshoppers with a red stripe along their sides. They are attacking various plants, what is a good way to rid the garden of them without chemical pesticides? What is a good organic pest control?
Pyrethrum is a natural pesticide. It comes from Chrysanthemums I believe. Also Marigolds are a good deterrent. What is a good organic pest control?
Pyrethrin is a good option; rotenone might be better. Rotenone is stronger, and that can be better for insects that hop from place to place. Both are certified organic. There are weaker organic insecticides that are safer to apply, and less likely to kill predatory insects, but grasshoppers are pretty tough.

Just remember that there is something else that eats those grasshoppers, and now that the grasshopper population has boomed, they will soon follow. If that something is an insect like mantises, they will be killed too. A better long term solution would be to provide food and shelter for low foraging birds, and a diverse ';butterfly garden'; that will shelter predatory insects.
There are some good suggestions here but there are some other options. There is an article on how to kill fleas in your yard that also applies to other bugs. You can find it at:

The same author that wrote that article has one on organic pest control in your garden. Both of them good.
I use Rotenone Pyrethrins from Spray-N-Grow. It is a natural insecticide and it definitely works.
