Does anyone know of any natural pest control products for ants?

something safe if you have children and pets.Does anyone know of any natural pest control products for ants?

Try this website...It's products are all natural and a lot of them are food grade oils.Does anyone know of any natural pest control products for ants?
Maybe a small dish of Karo hidden out of the reach of the children and pets. It is sticky and sweet so when the ants climb into the Karo they get stuck and can't get out.
Diatomaceous earth. It dries the ants out withouth poisons. and it won't harm mammals. Concentrated Nicotine willalso work. soak a bunch of cigarettes in water for several days, then spray the water on the ants.
There are a lot of good ways to prevent ants, although partly it depends on what types of ants you have, whether they are inside or outside, etc. There is a really user-friendly website from the University of California, Davis that has some really good non- or low-toxic ideas for getting rid of ants.

Anywho, the other people had many good ideas, some of which are on the website. I think baits are a great way to go if you are going to use pesticides at all. Baits are a much lower amount of inaccessable poison, and although they take a bit longer than a spray, they get the nest, whoohoo! Anywho, I LOVE this website :).
Red Pepper powder! Works very well on all pest and will not harm pets because they will avoid it, and start a new territory therefore place it in the surrounding areas I mean for the pest not pets (smile).
This isn't going to sound right but it works. Go to the drug store and buy a small bottle of peppermint oil. Make sure it is the real thing. Put a few 3-4 drops on a cotton ball and put them where you think the ants are coming in if in the house. other wise put them out side where you have seen them.We have a camp and an old lady told us this trick because we have grandsons that come around. It really works.
yea the ants baits really worked with me coz i have 4 little kids id hide them somewhere and they dont have any poison
You may want to try Citrus rinds placed where you see ants. The other remedy is bay leaf.
Boil water and add dish detergent to it. Then dump it on the areas where the ants are outside.
Mix Equal parts Boric Acid (drug store)and confectioners sugar, put dry mixture in little lids around and under things where they go. the sugar attracts them, and they bring the boric acid which they find toxic back into the nest, which can kill the queen.
You can try salt. Put it in cracks where ever the ants get in to keep them out. The salt in the round container with the girl in rain coat, not regular table salt.
The best organic ant control/devastator I've used is orange oil. You can usually pick it up at a greenhouse and it runs around $19 bucks a bottle. (in Texas) Sounds expensive, but keep in mind you will probably be diluting it. I use 3-4 ounces/per quart of water. For the nasty ol fire-ants we have in Texas, I will pour a little straight on the fire-ant mound and in a very short time (day or so) the ants have evacuated and/or died. I think what the orange oil does, is dissolves the wax coating of the respiratory system of the ant. All I really know is it works, and I don't have to worry about poison for my 14 month old to get into.

Good luck and remember. Although the Antz movie was cute. They are really nasty little creatures!
